Whether you already have your own practice or are just curious about beginning meditation, Women’s Meditation Circle is available to support you. My intention for the circle is to create an opportunity for those who are ready to begin or deepen in a tangible, yet deep inner practice. I realize that you may not be able to make it each time or that it may not be the right fit, so there is no pressure to commit to twice a month. I desire to have a core group of women join in order to create a supportive container, and trust that you will know if it's right for you.
Women’s Meditation Circle will offer an opportunity to begin and deepen in your own practice, grow and be seen within a community of women, and invite mindfulness and inner stillness. Some benefits of meditation are cultivating resources that allow for an individual to widen their window of tolerance and reduce trauma responses, notice body reactions to their environment, and strengthen their ability to trust their own inner wisdom.
We will follow a Zen based model of meditation that is infused with somatic, mindful sharing and movement. I will offer and guide you through techniques and practices that I have cultivated from over 20 years of my own experiential practice and training as a Somatic Therapy Practitioner. Some mentiable offerings are practices for those starting their journey and more seasoned meditators, authentic relating through dyads, somatic movement practices, strengthening our voices though speaking in presence, singing mantras, and closing dedications. I keep my own practice fresh and will bring in new concepts regularly.
Circle will begin with a prompted share that invites you to distill your experience from the workings of the mind into something more embodied and close your heart. I will share prompts created by poetry, koans, and personal insights that feel poignant from my own journey that lend an opportunity for the circle to share vulnerably. All things shared in the circle will stay within the container of the circle.
Following the opening share, there will be two 25 minute periods of silent meditation divided by walking meditation or somatic movement. Meditation periods will be accompanied by a koan and meditation instruction based on what supports the group.
Circle will close with a prompt that supports you to speak while in connection with your inner wisdom and a song to dedicate our shared practice.
Zabuton & Zafus, backjacks, and chairs will be available for seating.
*Please note that the meditation space is located on the second story and is only accessed by stairs.
